Disadvantages: You can die, we are all going to die, were doomed

As I have got older and the novelty of flying has definately worn off the less safe I feel on planes eventhough I know that it is probably one of the safest forms of transport. I guess this is in part due to the fact that increasingly I find myself flying with budget airlines and I know that they are most likely to cut corners when it comes to safety plus the fact that they work their fleet a lot harder with shorter turn around times and therefore less time for maintenance to be caried out. In addition because they are working harder also on shorter flights they have more take off and landings when the strain is most put on the planes structure and engines.

In addition you now have additional health issues on planes, as you get taller so they become more cramp and the risk of deep vien thrombosis exists if you do not move around enough and exercise.

I also worry about all the germs contained in the recycled air especially as some people do not look too healthy in the first place and some people have really poor hygiene. As for the food well I prefer to eat before I leave and try and hold out until we land.

I know air travel is pretty safe, the recent Ryanair incident and the crash in Madrid are the exception to the rule, to be honest I feel less safer on my bike in the roads in and around where I live given the number of bad drivers on the road in cars and lorries these days.
