Advantages: Leaves you feleing warm and fuzzy inside
Disadvantages: Nothing!
Sometimes it is kind of difficult to cheer yourself up when your lacking money, or lacking time - shopping used to be my favourite "cheer up" activity but with the credit crunch and my debt it is not really an option anymore. There are however many other ways to be cheered up - this is just some of the things I do:
1) Spend time with my niece - she is only 15 months old so every moment with her is a giggle. She does something new every single day, and is probably the happiest baby on the planet! She is great fun and usually helps me forget about all my worries!
2) Make up a "feel good" play list - I do this often! I love a good iPod play list! On mine Kings of Leon - Fans usually features, also some Katy Perry, some Zutons and a wee bit of Primal Scream. Loads of songs which can be jumped about to - that's one way of getting cheered up, dance all the bad thoughts out of your mind!
3) Have a lush bath - It is the ultimate way to relax so get on Dooyoo, search for a bath bomb or a bubble bar, go purchase (ok so a couple of pounds out your weekly budget won't do too much harm) and indulge! Also exfoliate I find that makes me feel better!
4) Bake a cake - I do this when I feel sad and I always feel tons better when its finished just fire some flour, margarine, sugar and eggs in a bowl mix it up and there you go! A nice inexpensive treat! The best bit has to be decorating though - so much fun!
5) Go a long walk (weather permitting) - This is a great way to clear your mind! I always find when I come back from a walk I have these great ideas and have forgot all about what was getting me down in the first place!
6) Have a clearout - Nothing cheers me up more than having a clutter free room (still living with my 'rents so only need to clear one room!). I always end up clearing out, then organising what is bootsale material, what is eBay material - keeps me occupied for hours and hours!
7) Go Give Blood - Can be a little nippy and can leave you with a belter of a bruise but hey nothing makes you feel happier than knowing that you have helped some individual who is much worse off than yourself! Ok so you might have to go a wee bit of a trek to give it but hey will be worth it, totally worth it!
8) Have a glass of wine with a friend - preferably on a sunny day in a back garden, however curled up on the couch will do fine as well! Chat al your worries away and by glass number 2 I guarantee you will feel 100% better and will probably be giggling uncontrollably!
9) Spend time with your other half - pretty near the bottom of the list not because this is the least important but because they are usually the problem! (Just Joking!). Anyway my boyfriend always has the best advice, the funniest jokes and the best ways to cheer me up!
10) Finally:
- Don't go shopping - you will only be skint which leads to being down
- Don't eat hundreds of chocolate - you will only get spots and put on weight and that will lead to you feeling down
- Don't watch chick flicks - no girl looks that good in the morning/after an operation/after being hit you will only make yourself feel worse
Summary: Feel better!
