I have three children aged between two and nine, the nine year old is the worst for causing problems, He lives for cartoon network, watches it morning noon and night if we let him, I have found that banning him from watching it even for a few hours works a whole lot better/has more effect on him as a punishment than smacking him,
I do not believe in smacking children anyway as it is showing them violence and we have enough of that on the streets without encouraging our children to use it too.
We have also found that if his sister now aged six years did something to upset him his automatic answer would be to hit or smack her not to tell her to stop doing whatever he disliked her doing.
Communication also features strongly too, isnt it better to talk to the child who has done wrong and find out why they did whatever first, explain why it was wrong and let them know they have disappointed you acting/doing what they have thats wrong. Then if needed ground them,confiscate something of theres for a while, or bed early it must be better than teaching our children violence dooyoo not agree?
