Advantages: Discipline works
Disadvantages: Mayhem ensues
The current government line on the treatment of unruly behaviour in our schools has directly caused the behaviour in the home and in our streets.
If the cane had been such a bad thing then those who are now in government would have been an unruly mob and anarchy would have taken over the country.
If a pupil can spend 6 hours a day at school knowing that he or she can do as they like without a teacher being able to raise a hand to them then it is 99% certain that they will adopt the same attitude as soon as they get out of school.
The Police have got to the point where they have no control over teenage gangs and in many cases even younger. On many estates the elderly will barely leave their homes and at night it is a no go area in some cases even for the police.
This has got to be stopped and the sooner the better!
The cane, birch and slipper should be reintroduced in schools.Parents should be allowed to discipline their children to a degree and the police should be given much more power.Courts should be set up to deal with juvenile offenders and more borstals built.
IF THIS DOESN'T HAPPEN SOON THE WHOLE COUNTRY IS GOING TO GO TO THE DOGS!
Summary: Something must be done soon about the teenage thugs on our streets

aestro - 09/03/07 Are you insane? We 'rebel' because we have something to rebel about... have you considered that? And if someone attempted to hurt us then we would fight back, not because we're rude but because we've learnt not to be pushed around any more by elders who think they are more intelligent simply because they are elders... Treat us with respect and we'll do the same. And i know that works because i have teachers who are outright patronising and rude to me and how do i respond? You guessed it! I also have teachers who treat me and everyone else regardless or age or gender or anything with respect and i respect them back. I get on with it and so does everyone else. I think that proves a point. xx |
