having kids changed my view (How to Discipline Children)

Advantages: kids are wonderful most of the time...

Disadvantages: ...the rest of the time they can be a nightmare

when i used to look at people in the street disaplining a child with a smack across the legs or a firm telling off i thought "when i have kids of my own i will never do that" then i had kids. now its people looking at me when i stop in the middle of a street to tell off my kids.for example. i was in town yesterday and my daughter for no reason smacked my young son(hes 3 weeks),so i told her off,explained that her actions were naughty and that she had hurt her brother and made him cry. following this she did it again.so as a punishment for being naughty i took her cadburys buttins away from her and took her out of the buggy and made her look at her brother and say sorry. as i was doing this i hurd this woman discussing my actions her words were as follows "how can you do that to a child!how can you take things away from them,they dont now what they have done wrong.how can they understand." i mean it wasnt as if id taken her trousers off and smacked her bum like my mother used to do to me! how else these days are you supposed to disaplin a child. if you smack them people call social services,if you shout at them people call social services. how else other than to explain its wrong and take something nice away are you supposed to disaplin a child??
