Positive praise can help stop shouting! (How to Discipline Children)

Advantages: Good discipline leads to well behaved children! Disadvantages: You do need to 'smack' children!
I have no children myself so maybe my opinions and thoughts would change as that happens in my future. However, being a Primary school teacher I know how to discipline children in my classroom and I feel disciplining children at home should be similar. I have seen all too often the spoilt brat, who never does any wrong in their parents eyes and gets their own way. Parents believe they are treating their child but they are actually damaging them in the long run. You must be assertive with children and they need to have very clear boundaries. If you set a rule and a consequence if the rule is broken, then it must be adhered too. What is the point with 'letting them off'. My mum used to always let me get away with things, so i had little respect for her and used to misbehave terribly. If she had set a punishment and followed it throught, I may have thought twice about doing it again. Summary: Always reward positive behaviour! |
