Nobody should tell you how to discipline your child.
What works for some people may not work for others.
I myself suffered as a child, mental abuse rather than physical, but the effects still live with me now in adult life.
Now I have my own children, and I constantly worry about scarring them in adult life, this is the key, you do mould your children, you do lead by example, even the smallest detail can stay in a childs mind for the rest of their lives.
Threatening them or smacking them may or may not get them to behave, but what is good behaviour?
Your kids sitting in a corner somewhere frightened to say anything?
No, our children suffer because of their parents moods, had a bad day at work?, can't be bothered to entertain the kids?, shout at them and they will go into their shell, and maybe you will get the peace that you want.
And the children will be oppressed, they will not be able to express themselves, I could write a book about this, but you'll be glad to hear I wont, all I will say is that we should be more tolerant of our kids, mould them into the kind of people we will be proud of, and no matter how hard your day has been, try and spend time with them, get to know them and develop them, give them every opportunity to reach their full potential, and they will make you proud one day.
