I am not so sure how to discipline my children anymore. A situation arose between a friends child and my daughter.

My daughter and my friends child go to the same school, although my daughter is a few years ahead of my friends child. Well it came about that my daughter whilst with her school friend was picking on my friends child and making her cry.

Being the responsible parent I asked my child about it and she said that she hadn't done anything, and my friend and I put it down to them playing a little rough for her in play time. However I later found out that my daughter and her friend had been made to say sorry to my friends child by my friends childs teacher. It then came out htat they had been spoken to about it all.

I then had to appologise to my friend for my daughters behaviour and that she had told me lies. However, I found that both my daughter and her friend were spoken too and made to say sorry infront of a class room full of 1st year infants (where my friends child is).

I went mad and made my views quite clear to my daughters teacher and that if she needed to be spoken to then that is fine, but I shouldn't have happened infront of a class room full of children who were looking at her and wondering what was going on.

Now my daughter doesn't really play in the yard as she is frightened of other children crying and her getting the blame, she thinks that I will stop her sweets again.

Anybody have any ideas how I can explain to my daughter that I only stopped her sweets because she told me lies. Saying that I am not sure to what extent things really happened, all I know is that my daughter has become very quiet in the way she speaks about her school day. I am only glad that I didn't give her a smack as I could never have taken that back really could I, Any Ideas Folks.
