I hope I am understood when this op is read by you guy's. It may sound really stupid but here goes.!!
I don't know how do discipline my kids. I haven't a clue how to bring up a well together child. I didn't have a great upbringing, as i'm sure is the same as many of you, but what is fair? How do I know what is the correct punishment when my son steals or lies?
How do I get it right? I have hit my eldest son, something im 100% against, yet sometimes no punishment seems to be enough, and none seem to work. I wouldn't hit him now, but thats how much I knew about parenting, the only parental skills we have are what we learn from our parents.
I guess i'm after ideas, how do you get the balance right?
Whats makes a child tell the truth? What makes a child not steal? What do you say to your ten year old when he wets the bed?
Whats classed as naughty? Whats not?
All my friends love my kids and think my kids are great, and all my friends think i'm a great mum, but I have always doubted my ability as a mum, as i'm sure lots of you have. But, where to you draw the line on discipline?
I have had a good health visitor in the past, she helped me with my three year old, but he's easy, It's my beautiful ten year old son i have problems with disciplining, he's not all bad, a great kid, but how do we behave with our kids so that they grow up well adjusted?
I hope you don't think i'm crazy (as if!!), but it's a sad thing when we are allowed to go into motherhood without a clue!!
I have read so much and I don't know how to go from the parent I am too the parent I want to be.
I have been reading a ROAD LESS TRAVELLED, he talks of well ajusted kids, great, just what I want, but how do we make the change over?
If any of this makes sense then great, if not I obviously need more help that I thought.

All I know is that I want well adjusted kids, that grow into secure, kind, loving human beings, who treat themselves and others with respect, men that are not afraid to show their feelings, or admit their sexuallity and opinions. Men who know how to treat women and kids, men that are great fathers. Men that have goals that they work for. I just don't know how to start with that huge responsibility.
