Advantages: Child will know the difference between right and wrong., Will grow up to be a more respectable person.

Disadvantages: Parents may get too upset and ake it to the extreme.

Well of course this is only my opinion but I feel like no one has any right to tell someone else how to disipline thier child. As a child, I was spanked when I did something wrong, and no I don't resent my parents for doing it because it made me a a non-brat as a child and I am a better person for it today. I have an infant, when she is old enough to know right from wrong and she is just absolutely out of control I will spank her. My parents always said " We spank you because we love you." I beleive this to be very true, because if they didn't love us, then they wouldn't care what we did. They would let us go around being horrible kids. There are alot of children in my family, and I look at how they are being raised by thier parents. And there is a difference. The spoiled brats are the ones whose parents say, " Jimmy, you're being a naughty boy, go stand in the corner for 5 minutes, and think about what you've done."
That's not how you disipline a child, they don't care about standing in a corner for 5 minutes, that doesn't matter to them. But if you spank them and tell them not to do it again, I'm pretty sure they will get the message. Now there is a difference in beating a child and spanking a child. Of course I would never beat my child black and blue, but she will know that when mommy's had enough don't push me.
