Advantages: kids
Disadvantages: more kids
Here goes .... i understand that if a child mis behaves then he/she has done it for a reason and that it is our duty to try and understand why misbehaviour has taken place. i completely agree that the cane should be kept out of the school as to be kept behind at school is enough of a punishment as lets face it who wants stay any longer at school than they have too.i know i'd rather be out on the fields kicking a footie around with my mates, rather than writing out the school rules time and time again. Unfortunately there has been a break down in discipline mainly due to the amount of offences commited by minors, look at the number of minors in young offenders institute which are now set at a record high. somewhere society has let them down. Where do we start to look at home? well yes i believe most problems start at home or if not there at school either lack of love or security at home even mixing with the wrong crowd at school but there has to be a way we can help kids who are on the slippery slope to be pointed in the right direction. Ther is not much point in identifying the so called trouble causers and labelling them, we need to sit them down a re-educate them, let them know that there is a whole world out there and no matter what they have done or are currently doing , that things can change for the better and the world can be a happier place for them so they can make a difference in it. We need to stop isolating these kids and get them back into so called normality hence place a struggling child in a large number of conforming kids so it makes life much easier and less of a confortation if he/she acts in a way society dicates them to. People are all to keen to push and support the so called gifted or bright children to find new levels of greatness but surely shouldn't the same effort be made with the children that go astray even if we don't see the same rewards.
Maybe its us that makes these kids feel worse about themseleves just because they are not strong with numbers or could improve there grammar. Clear research figures indicate that youth crime is at its peak amoung children that are not that well educated and yet we still struggle to change this fact. If they do find themseleves in a young offenders then instead of giving them a pool table to play on lets give them books to get there noses into lets try and educate their minds even if its just for a short term, and then we can at least say we have tried and tried to make a difference to someone who desparately needs it and show them that there are people out there whocare and actually give a dam. We are talking about kids, lets give them a chance for there own future. life is hard enough !!!!!!
