Advantages: teaches discipline, helps child to learn
Disadvantages: when taken too far becomes battery
I was brought up at first with both parents around and then at age 10 by my mother alone. I feel that thiss matter can be verified as to what is a smack and what is battery. A smack is chastising slap on either bottom, back of thighs, back of hand or flat of the hand in an upward motion across the ear. These are the methods employed by my mother for the 6 years that I was in a broken home. It may have been a broken home but it was still a loving and caring place as my mother really did love me and let me see this. I have seen the result of the latest no smack policy in local schools and homes in my area, and the children of less than 10 swearing at each other, breaking windows kicking younger children in (bullying, and I do mean KICKING), the no smack policy in my mind is a load of bull S**T. This no smack bull ordered by the government is only to save money in the long run. if you ban the smacking completely then you will able to tell the difference between a well deserved smack and a brutality hit. Very simple no deserved smacks will happen, because the parents, schools and other organisations would be absolutely S**ting themselves over getting sued by social services for child battery. When I first started school in England I expected to get a smack across the butt when I played up too much, a telling off for lesser crimes. At that time the school had less vandalism, less violence, less theft and less bullying. Since the no smack policy was brought in, all of these aspects of school life has rocketed through the roof. School children are not only misbehaving in school, but they are also doing it in the streets, and at home. Spare the rod and spoil the child was right in past years and is still right now. If you look to the wild, lion cubs get smacked by their own mum when they overstep the mark, domestic kittens get the same, puppies get smacked, it all helps them to learn what will not be stood for. <
br> If you take hold of an iron that is hot and get burnt, are still just as eager to grab the same iron 5 minutes later. Child plays with match, strikes match, gets burnt, stops playing with the matches cause it hurts them and they can understand that it is not a good idea to do it. Find an argument against this opinion and I would be very happy to say it all again in defence of my opinion
