Advantages: kids are able to relax and enjoy themselves, my job is a whole lot easier, i have gained one of the best teaching reputations, where-ever i work people request to be booked into my classes.

Disadvantages: none so far!

i am not a parent, i am not a school teacher, i am not a nanny (although qualified) until the end of this school term i was a swimming teacher. i am amazed at the amount of parents, teachers and colleagues alike that have praised me on how i 'control' my classes. all i do:
say 'no' and mean it.
i was brought in to teach mid-way through a term this year when another teacher was taken into hospital; the school was notorious for mis-behaving and general rowdiness, so i explained to the classes beforehand that if i was talking, or if they did something dangerous, they were getting changed. i had 4 children out the first week, 3 out the next and for the rest of the term we were able to get on with the lessons and have fun, because they knew where they stood. it is a principle i have stuck by for the 11 years i have been teaching, and it never fails. simple huh?
