Presentations.... A bit like marmite, you either love them or hate them.. Most people I know hate them; being a bit of an odd bod I love them. But I suppose I have to as part of my job I have to give presentations at least twice a week. I have presented to small audiences and also on a number of occasions to an audience of over 200 people. I have also presented to the CEO and executive directors of the company I currently work for on a number of occasions. For me the worst presentations were always the ones I had to give at university in front of my peers, I still would prefer to present in front of room full people who I have never met before than a small group of ...  Read the complete review

Throughout my years at university I have had to make numerous presentations, I have also attended a few assessment days whilst searching for work, where I have had to give presentations with literally five minutes warning. Giving a presentation to a roomful of strangers can be a daunting and scary task, but there are many points you should remember that will hopefully help you out should you find yourself in the position where you must give a presentation yourself. 1) Eye contact - Eye contact is incredibly important in order to validate your ideas and theories that you are trying to put across. If you maintain a confident stance (shoulders pulled back, head ...  Read the complete review

From an early age my parents have tried to instill confidence and good delivery into me, in fact, my earliest memory is sitting on my dad's knee reading the paper outloud to my nona (italian grandma). I did public reading whilst I was at primary school and won a prize for presenting my final year project at Uni. Nevertheless, I still hate the thought of standing up in front of people. I get extraction face (see previous reviews) and generally shake and think I sound like an idiot. Picture this scene: Captain Squiddly is tasked to brief groups of soldiers on a new policy the MOD is introducing. Capt Squiddly is a subject matter expert having studied the ...  Read the complete review

Crowned Review Lights, Camera, Action...Terror (1999 words)

I always had a dreadful fear of presenting, I went through Primary, High School and Further Education dreading the point where I had to stand up or shout out my name, rank and number. There then followed years of going on various courses where I dreaded the moment at the start of the course when you had to introduce yourself and your reasons for taking the course. I had no problems talking to other students or lecturers, I just hated being the only voice in the room. I could hear my words reverberating in my ears and they always sounded shaky and unsure of myself, which I am certainly not. I could not understand why I was like this because I am a very confident person ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review How to give presentations: Maslow, Needs and Motivations (278 words)

I hope that people who read this dont think that ive gone off the point as our self drives and needs and motivations are estremely important when presenting ourselves to others. Intrapersonal communication is comunication with onself. Interpersonal is communication with others. For these to be successful, there needs to be a motivation. One motivation is that we have ideas about how we use communication to maintain and evaluate our ideas about our self. We are motivated to keep on checking as to whether or not our view of what we are like actually seems to hold true light of the ways that others communicate with us. We check their reactions, or ...  Read the complete review
