How to sell a house

Description: How did you sell your home and what advice can you give to help others selling their home?

Newest Review: ... 5) Before signing a contract see if there is a withdrawl fee. Try and get this taken off and request that you want to go multi agent (more than on agent advertising your property). 6) Once your property is on the market you need to be flexible with viewing. If you can not meet a time or date that a buyer wants then try and get somene to do the viewing for you (most estate agents offer ... more

I wrote some usefull tips for buying a house so I tought I would do the same for selling. I have never sold a house of my own but I sel houses on a daily basis as I am an Estate Agent. I know alot of people think we are all bad but honestly we are not. 1) Get as many valuations as you can. When the valuer comes to your home, never ever sign up with them straight away. I would advise you get at least three agents out. Do NOT be flattered by a high valuation figure as alot of agents do that just to get you to sign up and then after a week or so they will ring you to try and get you to reduce or they will just leave it on the market and ...  Read the complete review

HOW NOT TO SELL YOUR HOME! We are currently selling our lovely three bedroom home as we are relocating. From the start we probably made a mistake with our estate agent, opting to use the same one we bought the house from in the first place... thinking back, we were not that satisfied with him the first time round! We made a decision to sell, and booked an appointment with the agent for a valuation. He came and gave us a rough idea of how much to market the property at. When we agreed on the figure he sent one of the girls from his office around to get details and take photo's. This is where the problems started, we moved a few days ...  Read the complete review

My hubby and I have sold five houses in the last fifteen years, we are always on the look out for a bargain to do up and sell on. We have managed to pick up a few tricks on the way especially on how to deal with estate agents and yes we have made a few mistakes along the road and regretted not playing the game slightly differently. I am not going to harp on about presentation too much, because that has been said so many times before, and to be quite honest if you really want a good price you would know all that anyway. Selling your house is not a simple task and of course you want the best possible price, so I hope this review is of some ...  Read the complete review

I would never have dreamed of actually getting to the stage of selling my house when until last year I didn't even own one. Being in rented accommodation for most of my adult life, the trivial aspects on how to sell your house would never have occurred to me. In the last year however I have since moved in with my boyfriend to his own property which we then decided to sell as it was too small, and I have also watched a lot of friends sell their houses in the last twelve months for one reason or another. Myself and my boyfriend were and probably still are novices when it comes to selling a house, but with his outgoing personality and nagging ambition to get ...  Read the complete review

Perhaps I should amend that title to Selling Your House? The key to making your home the most alluring to potential buyers is to make it a house they can imagine being their home. It cannot be your home anymore. Once you decide to put it on the market it has to appeal to the general public, rather than your ideas of comfort and style. We have just put our house on the market and got some invaluable advice from the estate agent. I will try and convey some of the tips he gave us and some of my own ideas for selling your house. Firstly, contrary to most of the popular TV shows that tell us about selling your house, you do not necessarily need to ...  Read the complete review
