Not Enough Rinks In England (Ice Hockey in General)
Member Name: jeffsumm
Advantages: Great Game Disadvantages: Not Much Opportunity To Play Over Here
Ice Hockey is becoming quite popular over here now, and one of the strategies coaches employ is hiring foreigners. The problem is that the foreigners that play over here are pretty much rejects in their home countries. English kids have been playing ice hockey for many years now, enough so that there should be a large number of players who started at a young age. Why the huge gap in skill? A big reason is the number of rinks in this country. In the States every city has at least one, and in Canada it seems every village has three. Here you may have to travel 50 miles or more to get to the nearest rink. If you're on a team you practice once or twice a week. You'll never get in the NHL that way. Summary: |
