***I wrote this article for a local newspaper it is not a fictional piece and the views expressed in this article are mine alone***

The refugee debate is a touchy one indeed, you are not allowed to talk about it if you are
against it because that means you are a racist and we all know that your not allowed to speak out about things like that.

I do not begrudge people anything, refugees come to England to better their lives, for them and their children, they want their children to attend decent schools and collages and receive a better education, that is fine I welcome that; after all most of the children that were born in the UK boycott school anyway.

What gets my goat though are the refugees that come here solely to live off the state and the taxpayers money, I am sorry but that is something I find disgusting and it should be stopped as soon as possible but that will not happen for a while because the government are too scared to act in fear of being called racists.

I was in my local job centre recently and saw it was full of refugees clutching their claim forms, one of the refugees started to scream and shouting about this country was full of "racist swine's" the social had refused his claim and he started making a hell of a noise until he was ushered into a room and emerged 10 minutes later with a huge grin on his face, he had got what he wanted by manipulating the government.

I have seen this countless times, whether it is in the job centre or in my local housing association; I even saw it happen in Tesco because they refused to accept damaged food stamps that had been tampered with.

As I said not all refugees are like this, most of them want to better their lives.

One of my neighbours came to England about 4 years ago because he wanted his son to have the best education he could and he wanted to find work in a safe and secure country.

He works 40 hours a week and he
does not claim anything from the government, he pays his own way because he is a proud man and does not want other people to pay for his family, his son is now 18 is a very bright boy and is now at Westminster Collage.

When I told them about this article they were happy to help me out, for safety reasons I will call them the Patel's.

They told me that "the government bent over backwards to help them" Mr Patel said: "the government did not want anyone to think they were racist and if they refused you anything you just yelled at them and screamed 'racist' until they gave you what you wanted"

"The main reason why people head for Britain is because it is an easy living you get money for doing no work at all" he continued

I asked Mr Patel why he came to Britain and he replied: "I was very unhappy in my own country there was fighting and there was not a lot of work to get money for food, I decided to take my family to a better country and get good education for my son and a good job for me to provide for my family with out the wars and troubles and Britain seemed the best place"

Millions of refugees try to gain access to Britain via the various ports across the land and the few that make it this far are not turned away but are welcomed with open arms.

And not only that but they treat these asylum seekers better then the British Public, they are given houses rent free within days while British families have been waiting over 10 years, (I myself now people that have been waiting 15 years on the same housing list and have not yet received a property) they are given hundreds of pounds that the taxpayer has to pay extra tax for because these people refuse to work for their living or pay their way.

Most of them do 'work' however; street muggings are on the up because young refugees wait in dark alleys for their unsuspecting victims, woman bring their
children and roam the streets begging, even on public transport, and then you have the ones that sell illegal tobacco in the market places - they make hundreds of pounds a day doing this but yet still receive huge amounts of cash from the state.

Someone handed me a statistic recently that said "for every honest hardworking refugee that comes here to make their live better 25 come to live off the state and commit crimes"

I did ask a number of people connected with the government if they would like to comment but they declined by saying "we are not in a position to comment on such articles as these"

As I have said before I do not hate refugees nor do I begrudge the people that want to make their lives better, what I do begrudge however is that people like me have to work ourselves into an early grave to make ends meet while asylum seekers come here and get an easy ride living off the state - now where's the fairness in that!

i wonder why you were in the job centre and the claims office?

to me everyone living on tax payers money is the same, no matter what country they come from.

but i agree with a lot of the points here, and it is well written.

what i REFUSE to believe though, is that anyone would come all this way, leaving everything they know and value behind, just to live lazily off £20 a week. People move here out of desperation and of course they want/need a better life. I'm sure the majority would be working if they could, just like the majority of unemployed british people.

I know that this article is in the wrong place but I oculd not find a slot about refugees so I was trying to put it in speakers corner (obviously got it wrong)

I live in a part of East London which has a number of markets, whitechapel, bricklane, petticoat lane and more and you can cleary see them trying to sell bent 'fags'

I am not blind I know that there are certain people that live in this country that take advantage of the benefit system.

I work with The East London Advertiser which is a huge selling newspaper for East London and I read reports each week about illegal immigrants, or asylum seekers mugging people.

I do not agree with Sidneygee everybody is entitled to come here.

I am not a racist in any way and I agree a lot of people come here to better their lives and get good jobs and work damn hard, but there are people that come here to take advantage of the system.

HURRAH!! You win an award!

....For the biggest load of crap I've read in ages, you obviosuly know nothing about the benefits system, if a claim is denied it cant be overturned until a written letter is made asking it to be looked at again.
They are not immediately given houses rent free, hostels and shared houses are used, and lets not forget the thousand of 'natives' who have never worked a day in their lives or are unlikely to (teenage mums you can have the blame today!) who get free houses and rent.

And the idea of thousands of refugees hiding down dark alleys with wads of cash and illegal cigarettes hanging out of their pockets is a cartoon that is worthy of the Daily Mail.

And its in the wrong place
