Advantages: Good for the economy

Disadvantages: Too much 'black market economy and crime syndicates coming in'

My view is that immigration is usually if it's done right - good for the country especially if someone wants to better themselves and or their family, PROVIDED the money stays within the UK system and isn't salted away via western union accounts across the globe 'back home'. This needs serious addressing by the government its bleeding the country dry. I have a friend who came here in 2001 from poland initially to seek work, which he did, his wife and daugher joined him last year, he's just moved in to a lovely brand new house in a small Leicestershire village and they both work, albeit she has another little one on the way, and hats off to them. He pays his taxes works hard and this is how immigration should be, not coming here with nothing and the expectation of a flat, hand outs all the time and nothing in return. What angers me (mr angry?!! lol) is when you read stories of immigrants who have been 'back paid' benefits last year there was a story of two somailans who came to the UK but didnt claim for nearly 2 years, until a 'helpful' refugee centre told them how to 'milk the system dry' - they caused uproar in their local benefit offices, one walked away with a cheque/giro for some 18,000 quid and another for 16,000. One DWP worker said that was more than their yearly salary and they pay TAX. This is what's wrong, we're seen as the land of milk and honey for all - it isn't fair on the British worker BUT we're now paying the price. Only this week in Coventry a guy (construction worker) went to an agency and when they found out that he WASNT from eastern europe they wouldn't give him a job, why? because Polish construction workers earn on average 2.50 an hour back in good old Poland, come here and you double your money.

Denmark has the right idea, you can't get in without a) a home to go to b) an employer which has a proven contract of employment for a guaranteed time scale AND you must be fluent or learn Danish before you come, forget claim forms in 53 languages, this is the UNITED KINGDOM and I speak ENGLISH, it should be mandatory to learn it before stepping off the ferry at Dover, and with a new camp opening up in France not far from Sangatte, you can see what's coming, hoardes like locusts to strip the infrastructure, the jobs, the schools, hospitals and for the majority, they'll never work legally (if at all) and we all pay the price for labours folly. I know who i'm voting for at the next election, i don't care if labour elect Jordan for Prime Miinister, I ain't voting for them!

On a foot note I was on the bus from town 2 weeks ago and we passed a newly opened Polish shop, only a small one but one which caters for the evidently polish populous, there was a mouthy scroat of a lad at the front with a music player that you could hear on the bus behind and an ugly gobby girl who mouthed 'oh my f*****g god a Polish shop, that's way off man, shouldn't be allowed' apart from wanting to rip her head off, I would surmise given their dress, cleanliness and attire that they'd never seen a days work in their life, and with the 5 rings through his bottom lip i imagine he was on his way to the cattle market for slaughter, well at least one of them was. This is a 'problem' of our own making and we're starting to pay a very high price, with over 5.3 million people on one sort of benefit or another and not working is it any wonder employers cast favour for european workers. In Southampton the daily pay for a british 'brickie' used to be 120. Now its about 60 if at all, why? because the polish workers will work hard for 60 quid a day, clock on and off on time, won't slink off down the pub at 12 come back at 2 totally legless and unable to hold a trowel and then clock of at ten to five. The british work ethic is all wrong BUT the employers are to blame, greed and avarice, just look at all the newly created offshore call centres where they're taught to discuss east enders and the weather to fool us all. Madness - utter madness.

Summary: What more can I say?

UK is perfect for illegal immigrants. A 200 ft wall all around the coast should do it... also would solve the problem of rising sea levels due to global walming.

A lot of European countries have compulsory language courses (Netherlands, Sweden) like you mentioned for Denmark. I can't understand either why the UK bend over backwards to accommodate each and every possible language spoken and supply interpreters for everyone.

Problem here in the UK is that as soon as the words 'human rights' are muttered everyone runs for cover. Other European countries also have that law but they use it in conjunction with their own country's laws and interpret it in a way so it fits in not as a free for all like it's done here.
