Paul Ince: Boro's Rock (295 words)

THE "Guv'nor" was snapped up in a £1m bargain deal from Liverpool, after being told he no longer figured in Gerard Houllier's plans. His authoritative performances during his first season at the Riverside earned him a recall to the England team as a replacement for the injured David Batty, and Ince featured in all three of England's Euro 2000 games. A tough, ball-winning midfielder, Ince began his career at West Ham but it was at Manchester United that he established himself as one of the country's top players. At Old Trafford he formed a potent partnership with Bryan Robson as United dominated the domestic scene. ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review The next one to retire? (268 words)

With the announcement of Tony Adams, I think it’s time for Paul Ince to call it a day. Otherwise, he’ll stand in the way of some excellent young talent, which will be a great shame. Ince has been playing well for Boro, since Terry Venables took over, but to give him an England recall wouldn’t be good for the long term of the country. Ince has been a great servant to country, I don’t think nobody will forget his heroics in Rome when England battled a 0-0 draw against Italy. He’s had many solid games for England and can be proud of what he’s achieved. For Middlesborough, he’s been playing exceptionally ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Paul Ince: One of Robbo's many good signings. (277 words)

OK, So Bryan Robson has bought some over rated players and they have not performed for him in the way he and the rest of the fans would have liked. However, the signing of Paul Ince imparticular has been one of the most shrewd signings bu Robson. Week in week out he puts in 100% and never gives up, like last week at Bradford, last minute of the game he pulls out a goal to save the day. He is a true capatin who leads by example and is a real team leader. He never lets the team's heads drop, he is allways rallying round the players and allways does his best to get the best out of them. He is the model professional, and eveb though he looses his temper at times, as ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Still good enough? (224 words)

Paul Ince has played for England and many of the best teams in England through his career and the question I have to ask is "is he still good enough?" Paul is currently playing for Middlesborough who are struggling in the Premiership. I think that Paul still has a few years left in him at the top level. Over the last 5 years he has been one of Englands most consistent players and I still fill that he has got something to offer at international level. He may not be the influencial player that England are look for but he would certainly be a good help to the young kids that are coming through. Paul is well respected throughout the game. He is a ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Paul Ince: You used to play for a big club ... play for a big club (258 words)

How pleasent to see the guv'nor's career falling down yet a another rung into obscurity. As a player at United and Inter Milan, he was a quality midfielder. He had resonable pace, incredible fitness, emmense determination and hard tackles. He also had an ego problem, which caused his departure from Old Trafford when he thought he was bigger than the club, but this was somethign that came with the player. He was instrumental in the developement of the United side in the early 90's, and the emergence of Scholes and Butt as quality midfielders. He was a fixture in the England midfiel, playing the holding role better than anyone else. However, the ...  Read the complete review
