Advantages: good player
Disadvantages: age
With the announcement of Tony Adams, I think it’s time for Paul Ince to call it a day. Otherwise, he’ll stand in the way of some excellent young talent, which will be a great shame. Ince has been playing well for Boro, since Terry Venables took over, but to give him an England recall wouldn’t be good for the long term of the country. Ince has been a great servant to country, I don’t think nobody will forget his heroics in Rome when England battled a 0-0 draw against Italy. He’s had many solid games for England and can be proud of what he’s achieved. For Middlesborough, he’s been playing exceptionally well at the heart of the midfield, winning tackles, going forward and spurring the team on. When, he joined from Liverpool, Bryan Robson was taking a bit of a risk, he was 30+ and who knows passed it, but he came through and to his credit has been one of Boro’s better players. He’s had a really good career, with Manchester United, Inter Milan, Liverpool and now Boro, he’s played at the top level and done well. He’s a tough tackling midfield player, who will always give you 100% no matter what. It’s a pity he’s not younger, because he would be an England regular, but I just feel that England have better younger players available to them. A great player to have in the dressing room, one who’s had a really good career.
