Now, I must admit as I start that I am pretty much an Internet FREAK! I never used to bother with it very much, back in the days when most connections were dial-up, you couldn't talk to your friends at the same time, and 7pm to 7am were considered the 'cheap' times, so you were stuck going on at the same time as everyone else.
Nowadays, I am a convert. A fully fledged Geek. I will quite happily sit for a full day browsing through my favourite websites, chatting to friends, and quite often roll into bed in the early hours of the morning having spent yet another 5 hours doing...nothing much.
Over the past few years, as broadband has become cheaper and more widely used, so much more has become available on the net. You can pay bills, check the bank, talk to your friends, check see whether yo are getting value for money for your car insurance...all in the space of a few clicks.
One of the most popular websites around is Facebook, a social networking site where you can post pictures, news about what your doing, talk to friends, send each other virtual 'gifts', basically anything you can do in life, with the added comfort of not having to leave your own home. Personally, I'm not a huge fan of the site, but I know some people who are that addicted they have signed up their mobile to recieve any updates people post on there!
In short, the internet now is exactly what it was meant to be- a super highway of information. Anything you need to know can be found within microseconds through Google, or a myriad of other search engines, you can chat to all your friends at the same time, expert advice is available simply by typing in a few words.
I have a few favourite websites myself: Here, obviously, www.moneysavingexpert.com, www.quidco.co.uk, www.tesco.com, www.office.co.uk. All of these are money or shopping related (!), and probably not much good to anyone, but if you are into money saving, I would recommend moneysaving expert, and the rest will follow from there. Shoe addicts will love the Office site!
