Advantages: An extra resource, another way to meet new people, a new (lazier) way of doing the weekly shop! Also a cool way of making money.

Disadvantages: There are lots of cons about the internet, no. 1 being the insercurity about it but so far I haven't experienced any problems.

Surfing the net is brilliant. When doing research it’s a whole new resource to use, rather than using books or whatever. Its packed full of information and its so easy to use! All you have to do is type into a search engine a couple of words and you’ve instantly got a long list of pages to look at. This is also a fantastic way to find out more about your hobbies and favourite interests.
Another thing the net is useful for is for shopping. Not only can you buy books, CD’s, videos and computer games whilst sitting in your cosy living room/bedroom/wherever, but you can now get your weekly shopping online and everyday items such as tools and home appliances, which can be delivered to your door almost instantly. Some people are worried about the extra cost of things on the Internet and giving out credit card details but they really don’t have to. With most things, the cost is usually very similar to what it would be in a shop because of discounts and deals and the online companies are very secure.
The World Wide Web is also a great way to meet new people (via chat rooms and message boards) from all over the world who have the same interests as you. I love the fact that you can have a great conversation with someone without knowing his or her name or what he or she looks like or anything. One of the advantages about the net is staying anonymous. Of course this can cause problems if people lie about their age, looks, etc. The trick is not to give out your address or phone number and not even your email unless you think you know someone really well, and also not get too hung up on it. It’s supposed to be fun.
So basically the Internet is the best thing since sliced bread and I don’t know how I’d live without it. If there’s anyone out there who only has access to it at work I’d definitely recommend getting it at home too, especially as a lot of companies are now offering it almost completely free.
