Advantages: Great Attacking potential, Titus Bramble is improving rapidly, Upgrading stadium
Disadvantages: Not too wealthy
Well. What a year it’s been for Ipswich town, 3 failures in the division 1 play-offs and then the finally came back to the top. I am an arch rival Norwich fan but I have always felt they were better than us in the league, despite us beating them a few times before they left the division. Now that they are back in the Premier League, they have exceeded all expectations by finishing 5th! They have easily qualified for the UEFA cup, which Chelsea couldn’t do. They have signed some great players on bargain transfer fees, like Alun Armstrong from Middlesbrough for half a million pounds. I have always admired they way that Ipswich play and they are always dangerous when attacking. The likes of Titus Bramble, Herman Hreidarrson and Mark Venus have been tremendous last season, they will become even better next year after they’re great experience of being in the Premiership again. They have also got a great manager, George Burley. He led them to be a superb Division 1 team and now won of the best in Premier League. I really hope they do well in Europe next year and beat everyone in the UEFA Cup. One year I hope Norwich will be as good as they are today. Marcus Stewart has been a great player and I was very surprised when Teddy Sheringham was named PFA Player of the year ahead of him, what had he done the second half of the season! Marcus finished the top scorer in the World’s strongest and best League, an amazing achievement for someone only playing for Huddersfield Town in mid-table mediocrity in division 1 less than 2 years previously. Football is a very strange sport, which changes rapidly, and Ipswich have proved that. If only things at Norwich changed so quickly. One of football’s most prestigious names has managed Ipswich Town before, and that is Bobby Robson. He managed Ipwich Town to the UEFA Cup in the 70s, things then went downhill in the the 90s but they came back with a bang in 2000. Ji
m Magilton has been fantastic for the club as well. He is a very experienced midfield battering ram who never tires and is one hell of a hard worker. The Northern Ireland international went to Ipswich from Southampton 2 years ago, after never really holding down a first team place, and became an instant hit with the club looking as though they would never get past the dreaded play-offs, but they did it eventually, beating Barnsley 4-2 in a terrific summers afternoon game, Martin Reuser, the former Ajax player getting the winner in the dying minutes to turn 3 years of play-off hell in a year of Division 1 glory. They never looked back from there and they have been turned into a supeb club in the space of less the 11 months. The clubs stadium is being rapidly developed at the moment and it is anticipated that the full capacity will eventually be over 30,000. I wish the club a terrific 2001/2002 season, especially in Europe, despite being probably a hated Norwich fan. One day I’m sure we will be up there with you in the glory days! A massive loss to them was the fact that Richard Wright left for Arsenal, so what did they do, they took away our goalkeeper, Andy Marshall on a free!!! Never mind, we have Paul Crichton now! Please fell free to leave a comment and I will consider placing it somewhere in my opinion. Thanks for reading!

- 15/10/01 As a life long Norwich City fan, I find it hard that you can write good words about Ipswich. Back in the days when we were both in the Premiership, I think we (at times) were far better. But as you say, they're back up there and Norwich are still in D1. Fingers crossed they can keep in 3rd! Good op! |

- 04/09/01 Enjoyable op. Have learned a thing or two. |

- 03/09/01 Well done, but what about superstar Tommy Miller, signed from Hartlepool for £800,000. I think he's going to do big things later on in this season. |
