Advantages: The players enjoy it, and it is their job
Disadvantages: Yes, their is the risk of injurt. But is their not in everything?
Im an not a boxer, never was and most likely never will be. To be honest I do not particularly like watching boxing, but I do have an opinion on this subject. The point I am trying to make is: How can you ban something that people enjoy, is a proffesional job, just because it sometimes ends in injury or in the extreme cases death? Really, it is like taking drugs (not that I do), but I do not see how you can get put in prison if you do something you like. As long as it does not effect people around then it is ok. The point with boxing is that, the two players willingly fight. They do not go into the ring forced, they enjoy beating eash other up. And it is their job (usually), so they make their money out of this. If it was to be banned then these people would have to look for another job. Also, I would like to point out that their are few actual physical differences between boxing and other contact sports such as rugby, so banning boxing shoulf mean banning these too. That is totally poinless! I have to admit I do not understand the other view of this topic, if you do not like the idea of people phyisically hurting people diliberately, well then, do not watch it! What you do not see, surely can not hurt you. One thing I would also like to point out, if you banned boxing (although I am fairly certain it will not happen) then it will still continue. However the now "underground" fights will have less medical support, so the risk of fighting will increase. This would eventually lead to more possible deaths in the sport, totally iradicating the reason it was banned. So how can it be banned?
