Advantages: Chance of winning lots of money
Disadvantages: Can be costly
The National Lottery.
Is it really worth playing? Is it really worth those few pounds a week to play or is it better to save them and use them on something else?
In my honest opinion, I think it is worth playing. Me and my girlfriend play 3 games a week, we have one lucky dip on Wednesdays lotto, one lucky dip on the Friday EuroMillions and a lucky dip on Saturdays lotto. This costs us £3.50 a week and we usually win at least once a week, which is either a quick tenner or £7.70.
The whole reason we play is for that chance that the numbers do come up for the bigger prizes. Don't get me wrong, £10 is very nice but that chance of getting £40, £100 or even in the thousands is worth way more. I think if you restrict yourself too much and refuse to play the lottery, just imagine what you would feel like if your numbers came up. You only get one shot at life, and in my opinion it's worth having a go. Obviously if you can't afford the few pounds a week then your better off to stick to your budget, but if you can find a little extra, go for it.
Good luck, I hope you win!
Summary: You only get one life, try and win it!

- 24/01/09 May be worth having a go when it's a roll-over. That way stake money paid the week before also goes into the pot. |

- 17/01/09 I personally don't buy lottery tickets but my mother does. I don't understand it though, I always thought the lottery was 5 numbers and then a bonus number. However on her tickets there is only ever 5 numbers, why is this ? Is she doing something wrong ? I think she does the lucky dip, she doesn't pick the numbers herself... |
