Together this should lead to better fuel economy, which in turn will reduce the overall weight load on the car during the race, which should then reduce the tyre and brake wear. When a car’s performance starts to ... more

2002 could be the year that we see the Jaguar F1 racing team fulfilling some of the promises that we have heard over the past couple of years. This team was formed out of the Stewart team and arrived with a great deal of panache and splendour, but unfortunately there has not been the results to match the rhetoric so far. During the 2001 season there were a number of changes of personnel in the team and a terrific amount of development work on the car and by the end of the season it did seem that some of the work was beginning to pay off. For the 2002 season the team have produced a much revised car which is about 70 pounds lighter in weight. In F1 terms ...  Read the complete review

The History By the end of 1999 Stewart GP team were doing great. Then ford came along, Jackie Stewart left F1, his son Paul had cancer and the team fell apart. Then the team changed to Jaguar. Neil Ressler was in charge of the Jaguar operation to put it at the front, but the R1 was no match for the front runners. Jaguar only managed to get four constructor points from Eddie Irvine who was the only driver capable of finishing in the top ten, Johnny Herbet was on last year as an F1 one driver and didn't get the results he needed. Now Bobby Rahal is the team boss and is making the team better every race in the 2001 season. Eddie Irvine finished 3rd at the ...  Read the complete review

For those who don't know Adrian Newey has confirmed his move to Jaguar. (See the end for more recent details.) This is a huge change for all of F1, perhaps the start of the biggest shake-up of the last few years. Many people may say "Adrian who..." or may not fully appreciate the magnitude of this decision allow me to explain. Adrian Newey is a highly skilled highly prized aerodynamic designer. He masterminded the development of the current McLaren car, and countless other previous supercars. He is widely hailed as the single reason that McLaren are back on form as a Championship contender. Many drivers are well aware of ...  Read the complete review

This time last year hype was growing about the Jaguar Racing Teams first year in Formula 1 racing.Alot of pundits where out giving predictions on how Jaguar would do in their first year and many thought they could become a front runner straight away. How wrong they where,Jaguar went for the tactics of trying to build one of the most complex cars on the grid and I am afraid it backfired on them. The revolutionary new oil pump system they introduced last year did nothing for them but cause reliability problems and hampered most test sessions for the team leading up to the start of the 2000 campaign. Jaguar have been quick out of the blocks this season in launching ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Jaguar: Not a big Cat at the moment (161 words)

Nobody thought Jaguars season was going to be so dismal. Somehow they managed to take the successful Stewart-Ford team and turn it in to a mess. The team have been dogged by reliability problems, although when the car does perform it seems to be able to compete with the likes of Jordan and BAR. Considering Eddy Irvine nearly won last years championship however, and you realise how poor this year has been for him. Knowing when to change team, and which team to join is part of the skill of being a driver, and unfrotunately it seems as though Irvine may have made a poor choice. Herberts bad luck seems to follow him wherever he goes, and this season at ...  Read the complete review
