Premium Review Karaoke: To sing or not to sing (180 words)

Ahh...Karaoke. It seems to me I'm always the only person at the entire party who wants to sing, but this doesn't bother me one bit. I can understand why Karaoke can be annoying. Firstly, it attracts 8 year olds. 8 year olds that can't sing. 8 year old's that only know Girls Aloud songs and can't sing. You get my drift. Secondly, it attracts couples. Couples that can't sing. Couples that only know love ballads and can't sing. Ect ect... You look at the microphone with horror, you know there are always a few incredibly outgoing people in your group who really want to get up and live the dream for 3 minutes, its their chance to actually be Rick Astley, The Cheeky Girls or anyone their heart desires, for you the sweating begins, the alcohol intake doubles, you realise your going to have to destroy any remnants of dignity you have and get up and sing, so you have a few more drinks to calm your nerves, to give you that confidence to ignore public opinion and sing. The time comes, your cheeks are red, your starting to believe you can do it, you grab the microphone, you pick your song and boom, the ...  Read the complete review

I have found a subject that I can really get my teeth into! those of you that know me know that I am in fact a professional singer. ( only in the fact that i get paid to sing in and around cambridge) my passion began in the 80's. karaoke bars or nights as they are widely known, did not exist. I would have to rely on a band allowing me to get up and have a sing. my mum was a singer, so i learnt from a young age that money can be made from the long hours we have to put in! as a young girl, practising along to donny osmonds puppy love, i had minimal equipment. a hairbrush tied to a skipping rope, tied to my bedroom door handle was my ...  Read the complete review

You may have noticed a lot of children’s equipment on the market at the moment under the name ‘leap frog’. The ‘Leap Pad’ seems to be the most popular but today I am going to tell you about the ‘Learning Screen Karaoke’ by ‘Leap Frog’. The ‘Learning Screen Karaoke’ is a hand held, portable karaoke machine for children. As an advantage, it contains a huge range of songs without the need for cassettes or CDs (so no tape tangles or scratches). I actually didn’t realise this when I bought it for my class of children ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Karaoke: Wanna be a pop star? My 7 year old does! (636 words)

Whilst leafing through the christmas catalogues looking for ideas for pressies for my our 7 year old daughter, my husband suddenly yelled out " We have to get this. It's brilliant....she'll love it! " He was referring to a new toy, the VJ Starz Karaoke Studio. On reading the info on the toy in question, I was shouting too. Indeed, it sounded perfect. At 7 years old, our daughter knows that when she is older, she will be the new Brittany. Or maybe a member of S Club 7...or the Junior version, if things go well now. Whatever happens, she is going to be a pop star. And right now, more than anything else, she needs to be able to sing on TV, for ...  Read the complete review
