Newest Review: ... Keith meets Keith. It featured commedian Keith Allen who was tracking down his hero Keith Floyd. He met up with him in his house in Avignon. I was in two minds whether to watch this and eventually decided to. The first half was incredibly funny with an albeit sadly reduced Keith Floyd who was still mentally as sharp as a pin sallying forth with his honest and sometimes brutal opinions on life. He even shocked me by using the c**t several times which I am sure I have never heard on TV without a bleep before. Still he was just being honest. Just this week Keith Floyd died at the age of 65, far too early, but probably longer the lifestyle that he had would normally allow. I was so upset to hear of his death, as he was actually supposed to have beaten the bowel cancer that he was suffering from and died of a heart attack, irony at its worst. However he had just eaten a fantastic meal with friends which included Champagne and oysters, so may be he went out happy. I do hope so. He was such a likeable and down to earth tv personality, unlike many of todays "chefs". Keith Floyd. If you’ve never encountered any of his shows he is a genuine star of food TV. Keith was one of the earliest TV chefs and certainly the one who freed the TV chefs from the studio. Before Keith, TV chefs like Fanny Craddock and Graham Kerr cooked to a live audience or the camera. Keith actually got out into the field (sometimes literally). He started off in the 80s on TV with “Floyd on Fish”. You have to remember that in those days no-one had heard of Monkfish, Plaice was a bit exotic let alone a Sole or John Dory so it was an incredibly brave move to take Fish to the British.
