Advantages: inexpensive, quiet and relaxing with great results after practises.
Disadvantages: can become terrorised by the cat or clicking can get on hubbies nerves.
I have a small hobby that a lot of you will find old fashioned, boring and will most probably vanish at the mention of it. My hobby is KNITTING! Okay, so it is mainly as the title says - knit 1 purl 1 drop 1 but it can be very interesting. I started to knit around 27 years ago at the age of 7 years and have not stopped since. Thanks to magazines, patterns and the brilliant series of Jean Greenhowe enchantingly designed toys it has increased amongst my friends a lot. No more do I have to sit in secret struggling to contain the monotical clicking of my needles and trying to keep the cat from nicking off with my wool. I can now admit that I am a knittaholic! Toys, clothing, things around the house and items for carboots / craft fairs have just started to make me some pocket money. Items can take as long as you want to knit but it is relaxing, un-stressing and gives you a fantastic excuse to escape the kids. Even when knitting toys my whole family gets involved. I once knit a 4 foot high clown for a dare and my hubbie and 2 sons helped me by breaking up the bits of stuffing and stuffing the various bits of body parts. When I finished it it was raffled off for charity and raised a fair amount of money. Please don't think it boring. It is an old tradition which could die out if people do not continue to do / try to do it. Go get some needles and wool and give it a try you soon could become 'HOOKED'.
