Advantages: It's relaxing with job satisfaction

Disadvantages: Don't expect to make much money doing it

I have been able to knit ever since I was a little girl and I have always loved it. I find that I can't just sit and watch TV - I have to be doing something and knitting is the ideal answer. I love to knit aran and I have done some intricate picture knits too. The only thing I can't do is Fair Isle - I just can't get it to lie flat!!
I have knitted presents for people and have knitted jumpers etc to order for friends at work for a small fee. As these have always been well received I decided to try my hand at doing this to earn some extra cash.....
I make baby clothes - matinee jackets, helmets, bonnets etc. I also make shawls made out of hand made daisies which look really good even if I do say so myself. Have a look at the daisy chain web site mentioned above in my profile.
I decided to take my wares to our local craft fayre just before Christmas and I had high hopes of making some money. I had spent ages making lots of things and my mother had made some hand knitted toys to help me in my venture. It was a good job she had - that was all I sold! I was so disappointed as I know the stuff is good - a lot of people stopped to admire but no one stopped to buy and my prices were so reasonable too.
Oh well back to the drawing board. I've been told not to give up as it usually takes time to get these things off the ground so I'm have another go at the spring fayre......
