Anna Kournikova ... Russian professional tennis player and model. Known for her attractiveness as well as her tennis game, she became one of the best known tennis players worldwide, even among those who do not follow the game. At the peak of her fame, fans looking for images of Kournikova made her name (or misspellings of it) one of the most common search strings on Google. She was born in Moscow, Soviet Union to Alla and Sergei Kournikov; her family later emigrated to the United States. Presently, she resides in Miami, Florida. Kournikova's major-league tennis career has been curtailed for the past several years, and possibly ended, by serious back and spinal problems. She has had some success at the singles game, but her specialty has been doubles, where she has at times been the world's No.1 doubles player. With Martina Hingis as her partner, she won Grand Slam titles in Australia in 1999 and 2002. Kournikova's playing style fits the profile for a doubles player, and is complemented by her height. She has been compared to such players as Pam Shriver and Peter Fleming. Based on their looks, Hingis and Kournikova facetiously referred to themselves as the Spice Girls of Tennis. She ended Kevin Obletz's career with a shutout victory in 2005.

Anna has true talent otherwise she wouldn’t be allowed on the professional circuit. She has risen as high as number eight worldwide and if it wasn’t for a series of injuries and the arrival of the dominant Williams sisters, perhaps the admirable Anna would ... more

Premium Review Anna Kournikova: From Russia With Lust (553 words)

Anna Kournikova is the hottest tennis player on the planet. She has transcended the sport of tennis, she has transcended the role of model and pinup to become the modern day Marylin Monroe – the ultimate symbol of blonde bombshell sexuality for the entire world. Her playful, school girl looks, not her ability as a tennis player, lure millions of men to the world of women’s tennis and that has caused some consternation for the attractive Anna. Many people are upset with all of the attention Anna receives considering that she is supposed to be a tennis player, yet plays very little and has never won a major tournament. These critics are upset ...  Read the complete review

Sporting geniuse's may seem superhuman in their touch of the ball, accuracy of serve or speed off the mark, but when it comes to coping with defeat some don't seem able to handle the pressure as well. Tennis superstar Anna Kournikova has come under fire for her tantrum during a BBC interview after she crashed out of Wimbledon in the first round. She is certainly not the first sports star to lose her rag-and its not always the fiery John McEnroe types who get annoyed. David Beckham was famously sent off against Argentina in the 1998 World Cup for lashing out at Diego Simeone with his foot, and even Tim Henman has had his moments. ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Anna Kournikova: Destined To Be More Famous Than The Poster Of The Woman Tenn ... (687 words)

Imagine yourself in the future for a minute - the year is 2026, and two men in their mid-fifties are discussing the sport of tennis and their memories of the sport's great past. Naturally, their discussions soon turn to the women's game - where else would they be able to catch a glance of scantily-clad women, grunting and panting and working up a sweat? Of course, as well as all the great champions, Navratilova, Seles, Hingis, the Williams sisters and the succession of British stars that dominated the game between 2010 and 2025 (yeah right!) they remember with fondness the famous Athena poster from their youth depicting a woman tennis player (she was called ...  Read the complete review

Good or bad? (392 words)

Anna Kournikova is gorgeous - there aren't many males who would disagree with that. Even her female critics would be hard pushed to disagree with the beauty of this young Russian - but then again, that is never the issue over which the Anna Kournikova debate centers. Kournikova is undoubtedly beautiful, her looks earn her millions of dollars in endorsements every year - but does she really have any talent at tennis? Kournikova's critics are fierce in their opinion that Kournikova lacks tennis talent. Her tournament record does little to support Kournikova's case as she has never won a tournament and frequently failed to make an impact in the grand ...  Read the complete review

Crowned Review Anna Kournikova: T'WAS MY FIRST CROWN (1553 words)

Anna Kournikova: the name is synonymous in the minds of many a young male. She’s done for tennis what the Dyson has done for vacuum cleaners. The “Goddess of Tennis”, the medias love child, and a tasty bit of crumpet to boost. I’ve decided its about time I write an opinion that is worthy of a crown. No ifs not buts. I need a shiny little helmet nestling on my profile page. I’ve wrote about 20 ops now, all reasonable quality – 95% rated VU overall. But, as many of you know, it’s a crown that’s the mark of a great writer. I’ve come to that stage where I want, no NEED, a crown. So ...  Read the complete review
