Graeme Le SauxNewest Review: ... in economics from the London School of Economics which is anything but a new university. During his early days at Chelsea whilst still studying for that he was often shunned by more down to earth lads because he read the Guardian whilst furious card schools raged. There are very few middle class English kids playing the beautiful game with Graham perhaps the most erudite. I think this is not ... more |

What is going on here with Britains best and most qualified in skill and experience at left back Graham Le saux as far as England goes. We and Mr Ericsson know that we are short in that position and cant rely on the likes of Chris Powell and Phillip Neville to set the world alight there in Japan. So why wont the great Swede go any where near the Chelsea wing back whos playing great football this year. The first reason quoted by the people in the game is his disciplinary record. But in the 39 games he played for England he only received two yellows. In his pro career at Chelsea he has had only four reds in over 4oo games and is nowhere near the top of theirs ... With Ashley Cole starting to play like a headless chicken for England surely it is time to look at the one left back who is able to defend for England and not just attack. Plagued by injuries and with a somewhat successful start to the Premier League season it must be time for Sven Goran Erikson to find an adequate altenative for the problematic left back position. Others have come in and notably failed (Phil Neville and Gareth Barry) but now it is time for Graeme to return to the international arena and fulfil his undoubted potential. So stand up Graeme and regain your place. ... Read the complete review

Graeme Le Saux has had a terrible couple of years after being out for a long time with injury. He plays left back for Chelsea and is probably one of the best players in the Premiership for that position. He has been greatly missed for club and country recently. The English team lacks a quality left back and I am sure once Graeme is playing regulaly again he will make that position is own. Chelsea have also missed him, as they need more English players in their squad to cope with the demands of the Premiership. Le Saux is an aggressive tackler who never pulls out of a tackle. He will always give 100%. He is quite quick and gets up and down the wing a lot ... Read the complete review

Bergerac came home! Graeme Le Saux left Chelsea under a cloud, he was messed around and became unsettled and unhappy in his first spell at the club, and when Blackburn came in with a good offer he was allowed to leave. Four years down the line and £5 million (a club record at the time) both he and Chelsea admitted they made a mistake, Le Saux regrets throwing down his shirt in frustration and Chelsea admitted making a mistake in selling him. But times change and Le Saux and Chelsea are very different beasts now, he has gone on to become the best left back in the country and Chelsea have re-emerged as a major force in English football - the perfect ... Le Saux is undoubtedly England’s best left back, and a talented football. However, much is to be desired concerning his attitude or temper. Call him a rent boy, and the dummy goes out, and its handbags time. The shear stupidity in elbowing a player right in front of the lineman is beyond believably. A player who was the captain a week before really should show more responsibility. There is no place in the game for that kind of behaviour, and the Sunderland player deserved great credit for staying on his feet, although his response was then equally stupid. Professional footballers really do need to start showing some maturity and responsibility. Le saux gets ... Read the complete review
