Advantages: Sense of freedom when you pass

Disadvantages: Expensive and frustrating

Learning to drive is difficult, I should know as I failed my 3rd test this morning! I rather frustrated and fed up, plus numb at the same time. I first started learning towards the end of 2005 and for much of the 3 years since have had regular lessons which occasional breaks due to illness or simply not having the money anymore.

My boyfriend took his test over 20 years ago and tells me back them things were a lot simpler, you did a 20 minute drive around the bloke and answered some basic questions about the car and highway code, job done. Why cant it be like that now?! My instructor believes I'll be a good driver when I finally get my licence as I'm not the sort to drive badly and get road rage on a whim of something insignificant.

Last week I had a 3 hour lesson, I drove half an hour to the nearest big town, spent a while going around roundabouts, side streets, one-way streets, merging traffic etc... then drive back again, no problem yet I cant pass the sodding driving test!

One day I'll get there but god knows when, wish me luck people.

Summary: A pain we all have to go through at some point

Never give in - I got so nervous on my tests it took me 5 attempts in the end - I've since driven for 19 years without any accidents, so I firmly believe not passing straight away made me a much better driver!!
