Advantages: Learning is great

Disadvantages: Some boy racers! Point???

Learning to drive can be an expensive hobby..

I started taking my driving lessons when I was 18, I took them with an instructor which cost me £20 at the time, I felt after 8 lessons I was ready to do with theory test. I had revised a lot and thought why not go for it, you get two years to pass your test after that. I failed my first test by one point. So resat it two weeks later and passed it. After 12lessons I felt I was getting no where with my driving instructor and he was not helping me make changes or improve my driving, so I changed driving instructors. My new driving instructor was so much better and by my 12th lesson with him he had me in for my test, which I failed twice before passing on the 3rd occasion. I passed two days before my 20th birthday.. I love driving and would recommend it to everyone.

I now have a bit of patience and time for learner drivers as we have all been there and know what it is like. I feel sorry for people learning to drive just now as prices for tests and lessons are rising and rising. I also believe that the theory test is harder or there is more questions to answer now. I believe the legal age for someone to drive is right, tho sometimes for young minded racers I feel this is not the case.

When you are sitting your actual driving test, I would say to people, stay calm, don't think of it as a test. Think that the assessor is a new driving instructor. Do not be put off with him/her filling or ticking a lot of boxes this in some cases is good. If you feel you have failed half way through continue like you havent, you never know your feelings may be wrong.

It is expensive and can take time, but stick at it!!

Summary: Have a go..
