Newest Review: ... had given way to off field bickering, disappointed players, continuing injury lists and lack of team spirit during 2001-02. It was exceedingly odd, because the old squad had been improved by the arrival of Robbie Fowler and Seth Johnson, and the revival of Woodgate and Bowyer after the end of their long running court case had added steel to the squad. However, almost from the moment that ... more

Can you hear it? The SCRITCH-SCRITCH-SCRATCH of broken nails on blackboard as the back biting takes over and all the fellow feeling and warm team spirit starts to fade into a distant memory. The sacking of David O'Leary came as a shock, but when one thinks about it, it was not all that surprising after Leeds United's apparently uncaring descent into self destruction through the second half of last season. Last New Year's Day they were sat proudly on top of the Premiership after an awesome 3-0 destruction of West Ham courtesy of a suddenly very hot Robbie Fowler. Come the end of the season, they were lucky to scrape a European qualification. For ...  Read the complete review

Good lawyers,not guilty. (787 words)

We have seen in court this week just how expensive freedom is with the Leeds players walking because they had the best lawyers. The guy who fell asleep at the wheel and parked on the railway line in a one in a million accident is looking at ten years. Railtrack who were seriously negligent for the last two big smashes all dodged ant chances, even though they were culpable and walked away with million pound bonuses. Lee Bowyer strolls away Scott free with Woodgate who hasn’t played since the attack a community service charge. The better your lawyers and your budget then the more chance you walk. I have a good perspective on this particular charge as ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Leeds F.C. Players: All the players rolled into one opinion (706 words)

I think come the end of the season Leeds United will be near the top of the table. They remind me on Manchester United a few years ago. They play with energy and pace and they can hit teams on the break. The only worry is whether Leeds have a big enough squad if they get a few injuries or whether or not they can cope when there players have to go away on international duty. The problem for Leeds United is that two of their star players are involved in a court case and although Lee Bowyer seems to be coping with it fine. I feel that Jonathan Woodgate as been affected quite a lot which is a shame because he is a quality defence and definitely one for ...  Read the complete review

Leeds United will definitely finish in the top 5 this season. They didn’t sign any players in the summer but they didn’t really need, as they have got a really good squad of players. Below is my opinion of their best 11: Goalkeeper – Nigel Martyn Nigel Martyn is probably Leeds United’s best keeper, but Paul Robinson is not that far behind him. Robinson is also quite young and has a lot more years of football left, where as Martyn has probably only got another few years left. Martyn is a great shot stopper and he doesn’t seem to concede many goals for Leeds. Right Back – Danny Mills Danny Mills is ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Leeds F.C. Players: Memories rekindled (910 words)

When George Graham took his thirty pieces of silver (or whatever it was) to head south from his new found stronghold in Yorkshire to the glittering lights of North London and White Hart Lane in late 1998, Leeds United's first choices for manager were either former captain and midfield inspiration, Gordon Strachan, or Leicester City's effervescent young manager, Irishman Martin O'Neill. When the Elland Road club were not allowed to pursue their interests in either man, chairman Peter Ridsdale instead turned his ambitious eyes upon an existing member of the Leeds United staff, David O'Leary, who had been Graham's assistant after serving under ...  Read the complete review
