Those who follow a faith can rest in the knowledge that something awaits them and that something usually reflects what they aspire to in their present lives. Some slaves in ancient Rome believed that by bearing the burden of the position they were born into, they qualified for a better life in the next, making their ordeal that much easier to endure (unsurprisingly, it is thought that the Romans initiated and encouraged this). The Vikings liked a slap-up feast after a good bout of bloodletting so their version of the afterlife had them carried off by warrior maidens to dine at that great table in the sky. Every culture since the beginning of time has held its own views, often to the point of killing anyone who didn?t agree (whilst this is a category on life after death, it is an integral part of religion and vice versa).

Your body is just a vehicle for the soul. The body rots, just like an old car rots. But the soul...well..who knows?

Great opinion there, and well written.

Can I sit on the fence with this one?
Cos I'm not sure.

One half of me says yes, as soon as we die we become worm fodder or dust. The other [half] has heard of sooo many instances of an afterlife being present. And from sane and rational people too. They aren't, and I'm definitely not religious either.

I guess until I have proof, I'm staying on that fence. Of course, it'll probably be too late ;)

And why are people afraid to die? It's gonna happen. You can't stop it.
I don't particulary wanna go, but I ain't afraid of doing so ...

Lisa :)
