Advantages: none

Disadvantages: none

Probably the worse year that I have had in along time and needless to say that I was glad to see that back of 2008.

I wasn't going to post one of these but when you look at the questions I found it quite interesting to look at other reviews and it gives you an insight into what 2008 was like for everyone else and it's quite humbling to see that I'm not the only one who had a rotten 2008.

1)What did you do in 2008 that you have not done before?
Buried a parent, sorry to be totally morbid but to me this was quite relevant. My mother died on Jan 2008 from cancer and although she looked okay from the outside she never got to see my sisters 21st birthday nor did she get to her her silver wedding anniversary. It was a hard start to 2008 as you can guess but I think that was just the icing on the cake to show us what kind of year we were expecting ahead of us.

2) Did anyone close to you give birth?
A few of my friends, friends had kids but no-one particular close to me.

3) Did anyone close to you die?
As above in post number 1, my mum died on Jan 2008.

4) What countries did you visit?
Unfortunately none, due to the lack of funds I never got to go any summer holidays last year, which was a killer considering we never got much of a summer this year.

5) What would you like to have in 2009 that you lacked in 2008?
I think anything would be better than 2008. Although I think I would like to see some good luck come my way, maybe even a good lottery win. (I can dream can't I?)

6) What dates will you remember from 2008?
18th Jan 2008 - date mum died, 14th June 2008 - My fiancée's sister's wedding... December 2008 - Coldplay concert was amazing... can't think of anything else at the top of my head.

7) Did you suffer illness or injury?
Nothing serious just the usual flu bugs that was going around, although I caught it in October before anyone else.

8) What was the best thing you bought?
I was far to poor to be purchasing anything amazing last year, although my fiancée did by me a laptop... which I will probably have technically helped to pay.

9) Whose behaviour has merited celebration?
All of my close friends, after my mum died I never realised what good friends that I had. Everyone bought me and my sister a huge bouquet of flowers which was really nice.

10) Whose behaviour made you appalled and depressed?
Probably my fiancée's Brother and his partner. We have recently had a huge falling out when they accused me of stealing from them, to cut the long story short, they had a party with people I never knew and things seemed to go missing, I was rather drunk and went home early, even thought I was searched going out the door and nothing was found, they still saw to accuse me when they have known me for seven years and they were people at the party who they knew for five minutes. I am extremely hurt and needless to say they are off the Christmas card list this year.

11) Where did most of your money go?
Bills, Bills and more Bills. I found that all I have done is pay over the odds for everything this year, things that where half the price the year before have doubled and even tripled, which makes everything harder to pay for.

12) What did you get really excited about?
Probably my fiancée's sister's wedding, it was nice to see someone so in love have some happiness last year.

13) What song will you remember from 2008?
I have so many songs as I love music and always find it really hard to pick out a favourite song. From the top of my head I think probably Sam Sparrow's black and gold, simply because it was played to death last year.

14) Compared to this time last year are you..Happier, fitter, more productive.
I would say defo not. 2009 has started off a lot better than 2008. Everything seemed to go wrong last year and after putting on a huge amount of weight, this year I have got myself into the mindset of eating healthier.

15) What do you wish you had done more of?
Spend more time with friends, I feel as though I neglected a lot of people last year and I'm trying to get that back on track.

16) What do you wish you had done less of?
Sitting in and lazing about.

17) What was your favourite TV programme?
Heroes, I love it, Shameless comes in a close second.

18) Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate last year?
See question 10

19) What's been the best book of 2008?
The best book I read in 2008 would have to be the first three books from the twilight series by Stephenie Meyer. I wish I had read more last year so this year will be a good starting point.

20) What was your greatest musical discovery?
As before I love music so the one that sticks in my head would be the Ting Tings and Glasvegas... not saying they are the best but the only two I can remember at this very moment.

21) What did you want and get in 2008?
A laptop, yes I got it for Xmas (Well technically got it in October)

22) What did you want and didn't get?
My mum to get better, unfortunately she never did.

23) What is your favourite film of the year?
I would have to say the Dark Knight, I was really glad that I lived up to all the expectations.

24) What did you do on your birthday and how old were you?
25 years old (I know old), I can't really remember what I did, I think I just went to dinner with my dad, sister and my partner.

25) What political issue stirred you the most?
The credit crunch, need I say more?

26) Who was the best person you met?
Can't think of anyone sorry

27) Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2008?
You just have to grin and bear it.

I think this was a rather depressing topic, looking back at a year I couldn't really wait to finish.

Hope 2009 is good to you all!

Summary: depressing 2008
