Advantages: Meeting new boyfriend, my job and my family.

Disadvantages: Ex's and the hassle of moving!

1) What did you do in 2008 that you have not done before?
Lived on my own. Broke up with a very bad man - so it was all good for me!

2) Did anyone close to you give birth?
Yes, my step-sister gave birth to a beautiful daughter called Chloe after only a few hours in labour!

3) Did anyone close to you die?
No.

4) What countries did you visit?
Only England and the very beautiful Wales a few times.

5) What would you like to have in 2009 that you lacked in 2008?
A bit more stability and security in my life. A promotion and more pay at work would be nice too.

6) What dates will you remember from 2008?
My Birthday, meeting my boyfriend Nik, first Christmas with Nik.

I7) Did you suffer illness or injury?
No, nothing too major except an annoying recurring chest infection.

8) What was the best thing you bought?
My laptop and my ereader

9) Whose behaviour has merited celebration?
My mum, for putting up with my troubled love life last year and helping me move house and distract me with her endless but very entertaining phonecalls.

10) Whose behaviour made you appalled and depressed?
My ex! Not a nice man. But I came to my senses!

11) Where did most of your money go?
Moving house, books, my laptop and my ereader

12) What did you get really excited about?
Falling in love, properly for the first time at the age of 29.

13) What song will you remember from 2008?
Breathless - better Then ezra.

14) Compared to this time last year are you ..happier, fitter, more productive?
Happier - yes, in my new home and with a much better man! Job is going well as well, given more responsibility at work and enjoying it. Fitter - definitely not, too many takeaways and lounging on the sofa. More productive - I am more productive, I get more done at work and made it a resolution in 2008 to spend less time on my teachi job and actually spend some time sorting out my personal life and enjoying life a bit more.

15) What do you wish you had done more of?
travelling - but lack of money didn't help with that. reading - I do a lot of that already but there are so many books in the world that I would like to read that I will never be satisfied. Saw more of friends and family - and thats probably just me being a bit lazy.

16) What do you wish you had done less of?
Worrying, have a terrible tendency to think the worst and worry over little details and things that don't really matter. Need to learn to let go more and just see where life takes me.

17) What was your favourite tv programme?
Lost probably - an addictive and well-made show. But if I am really honest, I have a secret addiction to America's Top Model and I can not even say why, I spend my whole time moaning about how annoying the contestents and the presenters are, especiallyTyra Banks.

18) Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate last year?
Hate is a strong word and i wouldn't waste my energy on that but I wouldn't say I liked my ex.

19) What's been the best book of 2008?
Wow! Too many to choose from, read around 150 books last year. But ones which stood out were Crow Lake, Gods Behaving Badly, Good Fairies of New York, the Skin Gods and Sugar Queen. I will try and spend 2009 backlogging some reviews of some of the best ones.

20) What was your greatest musical discovery?
Our Lady peace and Better then Ezra - I have been educated about music by my boyfriend!

21) What did you want to get in 2008?
Happiness

22) What did you want and didn't get?
Travelling abroad to experience new countries and cultures.

23) What is your favourite film of the year?
Sex and the City - makes me cry every time.

24) What did you do on your birthday and how old were you?
I was 29 and I went out with friends drinking cocktails. Probably the most drunk I have been all year and I don't do it very often so a sight to see when I do!

25) What political issue stirred you the most?
Education system and how it will change over the next few years since it directly effects my job. The Credit crunch also has got me a bit worried.

26) Who was the best person you met?
Nik, he is far from perfect (who is?) but I love him.

27) Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2008?
To not spend anytime with people who don't deserve you or you don't like, life is too short. Spend it with those you love.

Summary: Looking forward to seeing what 2009 brings.

Very pleased for you that you've found your true love, I was lucky enough to find mine at the tender age of 19 and we've been together for 9 years in May, married for five. But that first year is the best, all the sex and talking lol x
