Advantages: A very happy year
Disadvantages: None
I thought it was time I did one of these reviews of 2008. Generally 2008 was a pretty good year for me, definitely getting better as time went on.
1)What did you do in 2008 that you have not done before?
A few things e.g. leading a school trip at work, trying online dating.
2) Did anyone close to you give birth?
No, but my best friend did tell me she was going to have a baby (which is due in a couple of weeks). I'm going to be Godmother so I'm really excited!
3) Did anyone close to you die?
No, thank God.
4) What countries did you visit?
I went to the US twice (Florida and Washington DC) and then did some trips in England.
5) What would you like to have in 2009 that you lacked in 2008?
A job. I'm a teacher but I'm currently doing supply work as my first job was only a maternity cover. I'm desperate for a permanent job but they're like gold dust around where I live.
6) What dates will you remember from 2008?
20th August when I met my boyfriend.
7) Did you suffer illness or injury?
A couple of colds but nothing serious.
8) What was the best thing you bought?
My new car. We've named it 'The Spaceship'. It's a Honda Civic and I absolutely love it. After putting up with my old car for 8 years I felt it was time for an upgrade! Now I have luxuries like air-conditioning.....electric windows....central locking...an engine that won't catch fire so easily....!!
9) Whose behaviour has merited celebration?
The kids that I taught in my first job - they were amazing. Especially when I took them on a trip to London and after 5 hours on the coach there (supposed to take 2), nearly getting thrown out of the Tower of London and the ladies toilets being flooded at the services on the way back (all girls school.....50 kids.....men's seems like good option girls.....yes miss but that old woman just yelled at us for using the men's saying it was disgusting!) they still managed not to complain at all and to get off the bus, thank me and tell me it was the best trip they'd ever been on!
10) Who's behaviour made you appalled and depressed?
Numerous celebrities, although I really don't care enough about them for them to make me depressed!
11) Where did most of your money go?
Holidays and clothes....what else does a girl need....??!
12) What did you get really excited about?
I got stupidly excited at Christmas when I saw what Mr Tart had got me - a surprise trip to North Wales to look at castles - which is a sure fire way of getting a History teacher obsessed with old things excited!
13) What song will you remember from 2008?
I never really associate songs with certain years.
14) Compared to this time last year are you happier, fitter, more productive.
I'm definitely happier as I've found a relationship that has made me really happy. I'm also getting out and trying new things (like learning Italian at the moment.). I'm also fitter having joined a gym at the end of last year. As for productivity....well possibly!
15) What do you wish you had done more of?
I wish I'd got myself out on the dating scene sooner although I'm more than happy with what I ended up with! Travelling as well.
16) What do you wish you had done less of?
Worrying about being single, it happens when it happens I guess.
17) What was your favourite tv programme?
I watch way too much TV so have a huge selection of favourites. I absolutely love Gavin and Stacey. Top Gear remains a firm favourite and never fails to make me laugh out loud.
18) Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate last year?
Nope, makes a nice change!
19) What's been the best book of 2008?
I don't often read things in the year they are released as I get my books from charity shops. For me the best book I got that was published in 2008 was Wales: Churches, Houses and Castles by Simon Jenkins as it was the book Mr Tart got me for Christmas which had a card inside telling me about my trip.
20) What was your greatest musical discovery?
King's of Leon.
21) What did you want to get in 2008?
A job and a boyfriend....I guess one out of 2 ain't bad!
22) What did you want and didn't get?
See above.
23) What is your favourite film of the year?
I don't watch a huge amount of films, I liked the Duchess though.
24) What did you do on your birthday and how old were you?
I was 25 and I went out with some friends the night before. Most of them left early so I was a little upset. Had a nice family day the next day though.
25) What political issue stirred you the most?
Gordon Brown generally being an idiot.
26) Who was the best person you met?
Definitely my boyfriend.
27) Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2008?
Live for the moment.
Here's to a happy 2009 for everyone!
Summary: Happy 2009!
