Man Utd have, in the last few years, become one of the biggest and most successful clubs in the world. Since they won the League, FA Cup and Europan Cup treble it has looked, domestically at least, that Man Utd are not going to be beaten. My prediction was that Liverpool would this year have the strength to knock United off their perch - I even wrote a dooyoo opinion on it.Shows how much I know about football! However they have looked nowhere near good enough.
Sir Alex Ferguson is the main reason as to why Manchester United have been so dominant in the past decade in English football. He is by far the best manager in the English Premiership - if the Premier League was won on who had the best players Man Utd would be 4th, possibly 5th - with Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and possibly Leeds above them.
However, they do have some good players - Jaap Stam, Wes Brown, David Beckham, Paul Scholes and Teddy Sheringham to name a few - their youth system has worked absolute wonders in the last few years.
Despite domestic dominance Man Utd have struggled in the Champions League this year and everyone could see how lucky they were to progress to the Second Phase. However, the key to a successful team is winning matches when you play badly and peaking at the right time - which Man Utd seem to be very good at - remember those two fluky goals in the last minute of the European Cup final!
Man Utd should win the league easily this year and I will stick my neck out and say they will reach the semi-finals of the European Cup - but don't be too confident, just remember my Liverpool prediction!
