I dont believe marriage is outdated. Its important to me for several reasons. I have been brought up as a catholic and beleive it is the right thing to do if you choose to have children and that you are making important vows to each other, and god that you will not break.

My wedding day was the best day of my life, I know its a cliche but seeing my husband in front of all our friends and family make his vows to me really was a magical experience. It was my happily ever after, the beginning of a new chapter in our lives and I would be really sad If it was something that he didnt beleive in or want to do.

Yes it was an enjoyable social event too and yes it was expensive when it didnt need to be but we wanted a big white wedding so that it would be a memorable experience and something we could draw a line under and say this was the start of our journey as a married couple.

There are thousands that would disagree with me and thats fine, but we did what was right for us and thats all that matters.

Summary: Marriage might not be for everyone but it is for me.
