Advantages: celebrate your love with the people who mean the most to you
Disadvantages: you will spend a fortune!
Marriage is not outdated! It seems that everyone around me at the moment is getting engaged and I'm 23!
I'm also in the middle of planning my wedding and I am spending hours making it perfect. So yes, a wedding is an enjoyable social event... but it's what it means which is more important. I want to celebrate my marriage with my friends and family so that they are present when I make the biggest commitment of my life. Marriage is about commiting to someone you love, how can that be outdated?
I'm not having a religious ceremony as I have not been christened and therefore I feel that it would be hypocritical to do so. We are having a family friend marry us in a local hotel.
At the end of the day it comes down to personal opinion, if 2 people live together and love each other it is not necessary to have a piece of paper which unites them as husband and wife. However if you want to show that you love each other and are commited to one and another for the rest of lives, why not celebrate this fact with the people who mean the most to you? What girl doesn't dream of a beautiful wedding!?!? Go on spend a fortune on one day becuase you will remember it for the rest of you life!
Summary: Say I do!
