Marriage - Is it outdated? |

Advantages: A happy union.
Disadvantages: A painful split., Messy divorce., Fighting over children.
I do believe in marriage but at the end of the day married or not married it does not always make a difference when I marry I want it to be for life not until it becomes to much to handle .My mum has been married four times she married my father in 1983 which lasted a few months she then married her second husband in 1986 that lasted a few weeks she married her third husband in 1995 that lasted only a couple of weeks she met her present husband in 1999 and have been married almost four years.
Why have her marriages not lasted well for starters she met all her previous husbands in the pub.They married within weeks of meeting each other. I have four kids who were all born out side of marriage but is it not better to be born out side of a marriage than to be born in to a marriage which was not working .
My children are very happy with things the way they are I am still with there dad we do plan to marry but we are not going to rush in to it we want to make sure we are strong and going to stay togeather not for the kids but bacause we love each other.
According to statistics most marriages end in divorce I dont want to have to fight over the kids it is easier to walk away from a relationship than it is a marriage would you walk in to a marriage knowing it was not going to work no well thats how I feel I want my children to have a stable home and two parents who are on good terms instead of two parents fighting over it.
People ask when are you going to get married to which I reply when it feels right not when it suits everybody else I dont believe marriage is out dated but I do believe you have to work really hard on a marriage if you cant make a relationship work why would you be able to make a marriage to work.
Please think about this subject very hard before you jump in to it if you have kids think of them as much as a marriage breaking up hurts you it hurts them more.

- 10/05/04 I rated this U, not because what you said wasn't well written or because it was short -some of the best ops. are- but because I think a review in the discussion catergory should mention both sides of the argument....even if its just to prove them wrong. A very interesting case though.

- 09/05/04 Me and my sister got married first then had children and both have happy marriages etc. Our other sister got married after 16 years together and 2 kids. She said it was the right time. Ouyr Brother's Marriage lasted a few weeks too as he rushed into it. I believe in marriage as it is right for me but not everyone is suited or feels the need to marry. Love Louise |
