As a Liverpool fan I have bittersweet feelings about the sale and apparent subsequent success of Dominic Matteo. Let us be clear that he was at best mediocre and at worst rubbish for us, and to get any kind of fee, let alone £4.5m, was seen as something of a miracle by most LFC fans. For years Liverpool's obvious weakness was at left-back (and since Ziege can't defend either, it still is), which was Dom's position for the Reds. Although i am biased wherever this scouse t**t is concerned, i really do think it is a joke paying £4.5m for Dominic Matteo. At best, he is an adequate reserve for the midfeild. Nothing is particularly impressive in his game other than his committment, which should be a part of evry players game (although sadly it isn't always the case, especially where Chelsea are concerned). Although £4.5m won't buy you that much in today's inflated transfer market, you can't help but thinking that the money would have been better spent. Manchester United managed to pick up Solskjear, Johnson and Forturn for less than that. Leeds have made a few decent signings to complement the ...
