Michael Bentt is a boxer very few will have heard of and could probably be the least well known of the heavyweight title holders of the 1990's. Bentt was born in London, England in 1965 to a Jamaican parents, before moving to Queens in New York where his talent as an amateur would show a near complete boxer in the making. Bentt's amateur career was stellar to say the least winning 4 Golden glove championships and 5 USA amateur Boxing Champions during the 1980's at Heavyweight, he was second in the qualifying for the American Olympic team in 1988 behind the (to be) Gold Medallist Ray Mercer (who himself would go on to hold the world title as a professional).
