“ Brand: Modestkini / Type: Swimwear Range „
I have never been comfortable in bathing suits. I spend more time worrying if anything is showing that should not be then I do enjoying my swim. Having children makes it even worse as they tend to grab and pull at clothing while swimming with you. Several years ago I was able to find one bathing suit which at least had a long skirt around it, but was also too low cut for my tastes, and even this was eventually worn out, so I went online in the hopes of finding something perhaps 1940's style.
I typed words like conservative and modest with swim suit into google and eventually found this.
This swimsuit comes in four pieces. There are the trousers, the outer top, a vest which is worn underneath ( does not provide a lot of support, but will camouflage a bra if you wish to wear a sports bra underneath), and a cap. I did not use the cap, I do not think it stays on as well as a normal bathing cap, and think it was designed more for those who must cover their hair for religious reasons. I bought this suit almost 2 years ago and have used it often but it still looks quite new.
I really love this swimming suit because it means I do not have to worry about any parts showing that I would prefer left to the imagination of all but my own husband. I can just relax and enjoy playing with my children.
My husband is not overly fond of this, but years ago he told me to just wear whatever I felt comfortable in. He did want me to wear short dresses and such at first, but when he realised it made me uncomfortable he said he realised it just wasn't me and to just be myself :) So I dress not for fashion but for my own tastes and this suit fits my own tastes quite well.
The only problem I would have with the suit is the sizing recommendations I think are a bit off. After reading their recommendations I should still have chosen a medium but was not to far from a large and chose that as I thought a bit big would be better than too small, and having just had a baby my waist was still a bit larger than normal. In fact a medium likely would have been a bit big and I am literally swimming ( pardon the pun) in the large. It's saving grace is that the top is very adjustable through a tie on the back. If I ordered again I would be torn between small and medium and would advise anyone buying this to go for the smaller size if there is any question of size.
I ordered this online from:
I chose this model because it was the cheapest (£25 with postage) , but there are many much more beautiful designs available, and if I get the money I would really love to order another. The only problem is I rarely replace anything before it wears out and this suit may last forever! This company caters to Islamic women, but I see no reasons people like myself who just prefer a bit more material in their suits should not enjoy them as well. Because it is an Islamic company, they also offer full body cover suits, some of which are nice, but some look more like rain suits to me. They have beautiful little girls suits which have long shorts and a lovely dress like top, and longer than usual men's shorts as well.
The customer service was very good I received an immediate email telling me when my suit would be shipped, another the next day telling me it had been shipped and the suit on the following day. I am giving the suit and the company 5 stars, only because I can give more and can not imagine ever buying another bathing suit anywhere else.
An added bonus to this suit is that it does feel warmer getting in and out of the pool. I imagine it would provide some sun protection as well although it is not listed as having any spf. Still any fabric protects you from some of the rays. For this reason, I think the little girls ones would be especially nice for wee girls on holiday.
