Advantages: only if your a footballer

Disadvantages: The game has become one solely about money

I'm sad to say that the game is being ruined by money. This has been a slow process which we have seen develop in this country. The value of players slowly went up from the early 90's and so did their wages.

I think a significant event in this country was when Newcastle broke the World transfer record, parting with £15 million for Alan Shearer. Don't get me wrong, I'm a Newcastle fan and this was money well spent. However what it did do was encourage clubs to ask more for their players.

Agents getting involved in the mid 90's didn't help things, not only did part of the transfer money now get paid to the agent, increasing the transfer fee, but the agents acting for the players demanded more money.

Anyway, I think these multi millionaires and billionaires, like Abromovich (not sure how you spell that name lol!) taking over Chelsea has since ruined the premiership. It is true to say that Manchester United and maybe Arsenal were starting to dominate the league, but eventually it would change, look at Liverpool, they used to be the best team in the world!

Now Chelsea have all the money and dominate the transfer market, they can offer a player whatever he demands, giving them a massive advantage over the rest of the premiership clubs. Unfortunately we now see Chelsea winning practically every home game, while usually remaining undefeated away from home.

I think it is not up to the FA but Fifa to put regulations in place, I don't know what the answer is, maybe they should block such takeover bids like the ones we have seen. Also they should set a maximum wager for players. Top players today can earn as much as £100,000+ a week, now I’m sorry but this is ridiculous. Let’s not forget that this also encourages players from our country to play abroad, look at Beckham, Owen and Woodgate. They went to Spain because of the good weather maybe yeah, but let’s not forget that you pay less tax over there.

If Fifa don't act soon, I can see a lot of clubs potentially going bust. As a football fan I feel this would be a catastrophe. I'm sure anyone into football will agree with me when I say it gives us lads something to talk about.

Summary: Time for Fifa to act
