Disadvantages: lack of imagination

The best things in life are free, but unfortunately, if you ain't got no cash, you're probably too depressed to appreciate them.

I have mixed feeling on material wealth. In my experience the richer someone gets, the duller they become.

This applies to me too. I haven't had any money for quite some time but I only miss it in terms of security and rent. Socially I'm better off.

If you have plenty of spare cash, you find yourself going for drinks in town after work, eating out and shopping at the weekends. Fair enough. But it's predictable and routine.

If you haven't got a bean, then what do you do with your time?

I'll tell you what.

You walk for miles at the weekend - taking in scenery you'd never have seen if you'd been able to go to town.

You visit family and friends, and anyone within walking distance. It makes you fitter not getting public transport and excercise lifts your mood naturally.

You can't eat out, so become more adventurous with your cooking, using unusual ingredients that just happened to be on offer, or vegetables because they're cheaper than ready meals. So, you're healthier too.

Nothing brings people together better than a good winge. If you have everything - what's to complain about? Jealousy from others only leads to lack of popularity.

If you haven't got the money for the pub, you get a bottle of wine and a friend round. You make better friends this way than shouting at them over a bar sound system.

You finally get to find out where you live. Instead of racing off to the latest club, you might get to know some locals at that little pub behind the station. Beer is cheaper out of town and the atmosphere is friendlier.

Have that picnic you've been talking about rather than dining at your usual haunts.

I have always found it more fun to date a poor man than a rich one. They h
ave to think much harder about how to make an unforgettable evening. Rich guys generally only know how to impress by spending lots of cash, going to the best restaurants and ordering expensive meals.

If someone took the time to cook for me, lit candles, chose music, laid a table, made me a card, picked their own flowers, secretly found out the things I liked first, so that it would be there for me etc. - I'm going to hang around a lot longer than if they bored me all night with their achievements and slapped a gold card on the table for the waiter.

But, having said all that, there is a fine line between little money and skint. If you can't pay the bills, the rent, the food shop etc, your whole character changes. You start to feel so guilty for spending the smallest amount, that you can no longer get any enjoyment out of anything until the huge weight of uncertainty is lifted from your shoulders.

My ideal situation is to have enough to pay my rent, bills etc. Sod that, I want to win the lottery, but, above all, I never want to lose touch with the poor side of me that knows how to live well without paying for the privaledge.

Well I'd only be able to do one cancle and a home made meal, although not in my own house, so fancy a date!? lol

Seriously though, great opinion, very different to what else is on offer in the category.

Smashing opinion.
Doesn't all that walking make you hungry?
