I'm not an everyday motorway traveller. However I have been in enough of them to give my opinion of them.
Motorway services are good if you are travelling on a long journey, and you need to relieve yourself, after all you can't exactly stop on the hard shoulder for a slash.

Motorway services are quite expressive, they normally have very large car, lorry and coach parks, and there is planty of disabled parking. You can even park there overnight, instead of paying for a hotel.

Once inside there are plany of services, you will normally find about four different places to eat, however most of the food they serve up is of poor quality, only once have I ever had a good meal from them, and that was on the M25.

You will also find a large newsagent type shop, that sells papers, magazines, books, drinks, snacks, and car accessories.
But they are very overpriced, especially the soft drinks.

They also have arcades, toilets, which are large and normally kept clean.

On the way out you can buy petrol, but once again, the prices are well above average.

I think that service areas need to reduce there prices in line with everywhere else. Apart from the price service areas are good, they are clean, spacious, have good facities, eg: shops, playgrounds, parks, toilets.

I also feel that they need more security, I never use a service area at night, because they tend to attract beggars, and I have seen some very strange charectors hanging about. So I would never use them at night, unless there was more security.
