Advantages: Makes you want to play all these songs right now
Disadvantages: none
This could be tough as i have too many favourites, but let see how we get on;
1) Favourite last dance smoochie...
Do people still do that? I cant remember songs only memories of hoping to be on that dancefloor rather than left at the side on the balcony looking sad & blokeless! It would probably be to something dreadful like lady in Red.
2) Best cover version
Tainted love by soft cell. I do love listening Jo Wileys show when she makes her guest in the live lounge do a cover, there have been some crackers!
3) Worst cover version.
All of westlife, all of any slow song boy band nonsense for that matter, if you're going to do a cover don't just copy it - thats karyoke!
4) Best Male Vocal
Bono is the best Ive seen live, but some of the old rat pack are amazing. When Robbie did his "duet" with Frank Sinatra Frank blew him away & I think Robbie is a pretty decent singer.
5) Best Female Vocal.
I'm not really into female singers as such, i do like the lady who fronts garbage though, or effervescence lady. Bit of Rock!
6) Best Duo + / Group .
Blimey; I have best bands for different moods, you cant beat ABBA, I love old Duran Duran (but is that my teenage years saying that!) U2, Nirvana, foofighters. I'll stop now
7) Most memorable Song.
I'm going to take that literally & say Wham Rap for the simple reason that having not heard the song for something like 12 years i remembered every single word all of it!
8) Your Song .
I don't think I have a song - I might go & ask my friends about this & add it in later
9) Best Female Vocal Performance
Shirley Bassey. I love the story of her on a flight with John Bannerman of Dr Who/Torchwood fame. he was scared of flying & she told him that she would look after him. As the plane screamed down the runway she apparently started singing "Goldfinger" at the top of her voice - brilliant!
10) Best Male Vocal Performance.
Frank Sinatra; not my type of music really but what a voice
11) Most Poignant Song.
Do they know its Christmas (original version). Not so much that it is poignant but I remember at the time listening to Midge Ure on the radio setting out what he wanted to do & thinking it was an amazing idea. We had never really seen such footage of a starving population at the time & actually I guess the poignant song was "who's going to take you home" which was the background music to the report.
12) All Time Favourite Album.
A fairly new album this one - American Idiot by Greenday. I played this so much in my car that i physically burnt out the disk & had to get another one.
13) Best Music Video .
I'm going to go for my teenage favourite which is Duran Duran & Rio for the simple reason that no matter how many times I see it, it still makes me excited!
14) Best Act Ever...
This is hard; for me overall it would be U2 although in recent times I've not been too impressed by what they have put out there. Fantastic live act to boot. I was brought up with Queen & they are the one act I would have loved to have seen in their early days.
15) Best TV / Film musical piece...
16) Best personal computer (any) music software.
I guess its Itunes
Summary: For some reason this has brought back memories of playing vinyl at 78 setting!
